About Hungry Soul

The Dream … Together we can change the world.

I know it sounds so cliché, but in our case, it was true.
Chatting with my close friend, we knew we were privileged. We had it good and there was an urge to help others. We dreamed of changing the world, saving the world.
But we were young then, naive, innocent, and lacking in life experience.
That was nearly 40 years ago or more. Of course, life gets in the way and our dream was lost between marriage, kids, and career …
Our kids have mostly grown up ( not me, I still have a way to go ). I read a line by Brendan Stanton, the author of Humans of New York, he said: “I wanted to spend the next phase of my life doing work that I valued as much as the reward.” I understood exactly what he meant.
Then on a three-hour car journey with that same ‘old’ friend, he pressed me: “So, what are you going to do now, Jacques? “. “I don’t know” was my answer.
And he said,” Jacques, you have been fighting for this all your life”. It was true. Freeing animals from a life of captivity, torture and abuse for the benefit of humans has been a part of me my entire life. As I grew up, the more I learnt about the treatment of animals, the harder it was not to act.

Hungry Soul… a new life, a new direction.

Becoming vegan opened my eyes. I learnt that what we eat had perhaps the greatest impact on everything on earth, first and foremost on the animals. Animals in the food industry are considered production facilities, there is little thought that they are living, loving and sentient beings. But all that suffering is not necessary.
Not only is it possible to eat without consuming animal products, it is also so much healthier for humans. Added to that, it is easy and tasty! The world would be a better place, the environment, we humans and all those innocent animals benefit when we eat vegan foods.
Since food is my thing, the best way to try and change the world is to help people cook and eat more plants. That is why Hungry Soul is here.

Alexis Gauthier, French Chef “ we are not meant to eat animals, we are not meant to be at the top of the food chain, something happened, as humans, we were ‘too intelligent’ for our own good, we went into a wrong direction, we should have continued to pick from what was in our reach, at our feet, we are not meant to eat animals. I believe, we need to return to the [ original ] natural way of doing things in order to survive”.
